We weren't allowed to watch Bewitched on TV. I wonder why?

i remember growing up, the witness children were often ones that were left to see all those g rated movies from disney.
yet even those at time, while accepted by just about every religion out there, were considered demonic.
for example, the following movies were said to show witchcraft and in or congregation we were encouraged to discard them and not own copies of them; sleeping beauty, snow white, the little mermaid, bed knobs and broomsticks, and fantasia.
We weren't allowed to watch Bewitched on TV. I wonder why?

is travolta gay or bisexual?
Perhaps he is embracing a new faith?
"Oh Charlie, I just know you have the TRUTH".

Ok, we've got to stop all this character assasination, next you'll be saying Liberace was gay.

how much truth within the organization?
often times, having spent so many years as being one of jehovah's.
witnesses, the question crosses my mind, "how much truth was.
They were right in saying that Religion is a Snare and a Racket. Hell, they perfected it. They stress not to "trust in Nobles nor the son of earthling man to whom no salvation belongs..... He dies and ceases..." paraphrase there. This I believe a is very important truth.

i have been in the truth my whole life and tomorrow i turn 32!
the last year i have been fading and haven't been to the kh since the memorial.
i can't tell you how it has been such a heavy burden lifted off my shoulders not to have to worry about so many meetings!!!
Meetings were either a panic session, trying to fill all the responsibilities that were shirked, or a total bore. Now I find that I have so much time for myself it seems overwhelming. Trust me, I'm doing just fine.
Ran into an elder who talked to me while I was in my car leaving the parking lot of our local shopping center. "We miss you at the meetings, of course you know I'm gonna say that" said he. I thought, "No you don't. Better yet, I don't miss you either."

often in the past, after missing many months of meetings, i just showed up at the hall, and i had such a hard time finding a watchtower magazine, just to follow the study.. even elders were trying to find one for me, and sometimes there was just one left, and often there was none, so i remember being given one from a witness who decided to follow with his spouse in her magazine.. what i'm getting to is that they don't have tons of magazines at the hall, just there waiting for some newbie to show up.. i wonder why they go door to door, if they can't even have a couple of spare watchtower magazines incase a stranger just showed up...
I'll never forget the time my mom sat with a befuddled look on her face during a WT study. She sat next to me and kept looking through it to find the study article. Hers didn't match the subject we were studying. She handed it to me and I looked at it and it was the right magazine, say a june 1st. The problem was that she had june 1st of the year before!!! She had studied it and was excited about commenting. We laughed so hard about that one. Her eyesight was going due to her diabetes and it was an honest mistake.

way back one man was the presiding overseer of the congregation.
then in the ' 70s they started the arrangement of the body of elders w/one being the po.
during this time they started w/the practice of rotating the entire boe so that each member would be serving in a different capacity - theocratic ministry school overseer, field overseer, literature overseer, secretary, etc.
Remember, the rotation included all assignments of the body of elders. This meant that every year there was some new dipstick trying to do a different job he was unqualified for. The frustration factor was incredible. We had one illiterate numbnuts who was compelled to conduct the TM School. What a disaster.
Either way, its a human system that breeds tryants and saints. Too many tryants unfortunately.

linda and i were just chatting about some of the more odd beliefs of jws, and how we tended to accept them despite not totally understanding them.
the jws have a tendency to pick incidents from the scriptures and look for a modern - day application, priding themselves on being the only ones who can truly understand what these things mean for todays' world.
there are severa that i had trouble getting my head around, but gullibly accepted the society's take on them.. for example, i always had problems accepting or even understanding the jw interpretation of the 7 trumpet balasts of revelation, which they said were fulfilled by 7 conventions held between 1922 and 1928. the wtbs was an insignificant religion then compared to the more mainstream churches, and isn't all that significant now in terms of membership, and i just couldn't see why a seemingly - significant event in the bible would find it's fulfillment in a series of conventions that the majority of humanity wouldn't even be aware were taking place.
The thing that irritated me was the way that every event in Daniel seems to have the answer, "1919". They needn't print any other words on the page as that is the answer to every question. When was the FDS inspected? When did the preaching work become revived? Blah blah blah.
It's so apparent that Rutherford and his zealots were justifying thier break with the rest of the Bible students that it is laughable, no, shameful, that they engaged in such self promotion.

i know a lot of this has already been hashed out before, but for my own personal mental health i feel compelled to post this stuff.
who knows maybe someone out there can use it towards their freedom.
so here is the last letter my wife and i submitted to the elders: .
Even if the NGO thing was bogus, the way the Society has handled your inquirys is shameful. Are they that insecure that they cannot even let you TOUCH thier reply? Wow, that's incredible! It fits the profile of a controlling and manipulative cult. They will one day change thier story and they can't have that letter floating around showing how they flip flopped on that one too.
I would say the boot is coming for your ass pretty quick. Jehoovie gave you a mind and you sinfully used it to deceive yourself, no wait, Satan deceived you by one simple question, "Is it really so that the Watchtowell and Bath Society was humping the Scarlet Colored Beast?"
Yep, she was.

i am new to the forum, but not new to jw indoctrination.
even as a child, i would ask myself, "why would the almighty creator need to prove anything to anyone, including him/her/itself?
really, one of the few scriptures that i do actually agree with is that 'god is love.
Blondie,
Didn't Rutherford refer to this as a universal court case? Was that also made a doctrine as late as 1986? I thought it was established by Rutherford that there was a universal court in session in line with Daniel or was it in Isaiah? You know, you bring forth your witnesses etc. as to who is God... Somewhere along the line it became apparent to me that after Russell it all became doctrine based on the legal perspective of Rutherford. I figured it was Jehovah using a Legal eagle to make known his will as he used Joshua, a general, Moses a prophet etc. Then it just became too silly and I knew this was a megalomaniac on the loose when I started reading his rainbow of books and saw he was a nutjob.
Lemme know what you find on that universal court case business.
Thanks,
W.Once
